MN House Representative John Poston, along with the Staples Economic Development Authority, are excited to invite you to be part of the bonding goal of the Historic Batcher Block Opera House (BBOH).
The Staples EDA along with many partners are working together to find a solution to reopen this historic one of a kind building that covers a whole block in the heart of downtown. A business plan was created by McClure Engineering through funding from Sourcewell and the City of Staples that outlines how the space can be restored to its original beauty and renovated to accommodate today’s needs while offering a programming plan to keep the building open for decades to come!
The space will be an economic development engine not only for the Staples Motley communities but for the region as a whole and ultimately the state. In addition to community performances, visiting artists and collaboration with area organizations and artists, BBOH will host around 300 events a year, from performances to classes that will not only engage local residents but will bring in tourists and others from across the state and nation to experience the historical feel of attending performances in this one of a kind space.
Revitalizing this space will be a regional driver of workforce retention and recruitment. In addition, it will have significant impact on the region and the surrounding communities as it will drive economic investment into the area through business development.
Follow the Batcher Block Opera House page for future updates as the excitment is growing We are Staples Proud and proud to have you be a part of this momentum and share this page with your friends!
Sincerely,
Steering Committee of the Batcher Block Opera House
